Jesus helps me trick people

For better or for worse I am once again in the graveyard. One of my managers from the hotel that I used to work at is now head cheese at another one. She was hiring for an overnight clerk. I applied. She hired me the same day. I start tomorrow. It was guaranteed cheese that I could not pass up, not after having no luck on job two for weeks and the restaurant money getting bleaker and bleaker. Its only part time. I won't become burried again. I hope. But my sleep schedule is going to be totally f'ed for a while now. I just think it's funny/sad after my last post. I am waiting for a decision that I make to seem like it was the right one. laters, r.

five revolutionary seconds

I've moved into my new place. Hooray! No wait let me back up. So my car exploded just before I was about to move. Not exploded, the alternator cut out, just after I dropped $300 to have some other bullshit repaired on it. Yarr x 2000. Alternator repairs (plus towing, etc.) would have reduced its ultimate trade-in value to like $100 so rather than fuck with it, I donated the bastard to the Salvation Army who picked it up from where is crapped out. Good riddance. So I borrowed my parents' car to move and rented a truck to move my big stuff (not worth it btw). I spent a bunch of money on furniture and home decorum stuff ( even going to such lengths as driving all the way to Dallas to go to stupid Ikea [which was a gut-wrenching experience as always] to get some cheap/sexy furniture despite the sour post-fight club feeling I get from the whole thing). Living by myself is about as cool as it is weird. The expense has forced me to cut some of the fat of my lifestyle (no fast internet, bottled water, cable) but I'm trying to compensate with cheaper, maybe even better alternatives (newspapers & magazine subscripts) but it still doesn't come close to the thrift of having room mates. I had been concerned up to this point that if I lived by myself that I would isolate myself from any human contact (especially when I was working grave shifts at the hotel and had barely any human contact any way) since I kind of exist on the periphery on my tiny circle of friends, but I think I'll be okay. My theory is that isolation will drive me to make new friends. God, this is a depressing and frighteningly honest post. Oh, internet, you're my only real friend. love, rs

shots in the dark

Update: To be brief no Crowne Plaza job (they sent me a letter, how nice), no Portabla (no letter, jerks). Whole Foods called me about a 'transportation clerk' job I applied for at random on their website. I took an 'ms excel proficiency test' and got called back today. I wasn't really even sure what the job was about. I went in for an interview (a 6 person panel interview. me: on three hours of sleep like a idiot) and I learned an important lesson: No Matter What, Do Not Tell The Truth at an Interview. "Where do I see myself in 5 years? Why working for you at this fine corporation, of course." "Do I know anything about US Department of Transportation regulations? Boy Howdy, I read from the USDoT Handbook to the old folks at the rest home I volunteer at." "Track marks on my arm? No, those aren't track marks." You get the idea. They really want you to tell them what they want to hear so you might as well not dissappoint them. My interview lasted 5 minutes (after waiting an hour & a half). Them: We don't think you'd fit with this position. Me: LATERS! -r
